Thank You from the children

Fotara would like to thank all those who helped with gifts to the Christmas toy appeal in 2008.
This year 90 families in the borough benefited from the successful appeal.
A great thumbs up from the staff. The money HGRA donated was
utilised to purchase boys toys when they ran out of donated toys for boys.

Hindley Green Councillor Bob Brierley along with others from the Mears group, took part in the delivery of the presents to the families. Fotara
( Federation of Tenants and Residents Association )
They are organizing a group now for Christmas 2009.
This Christmas has already started and they would love it if you joined them.
Collecting toys, sorting toys.
Ideas to make it better or bigger.
If you would like to be in the group.

Westlake Notice Boards:
Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust has had 2 new notice boards
installed in the Westlake area.
These are primarily to be used to inform users of Greenspace and relevant Trust or Council information such as; forthcoming events, by-laws, poop & scoop, disposal of litter
etc.
……
The content of these notice boards is managed by Greenspaces staff; however, appropriate literature is allowed to be posted by third parties as long as it supports the general message of the Trust or Council.

Harlea Avenue:
There is still the ongoing problem in trying to get the council to adopt Harlea Ave.
Residents have been made aware that rebates may be available from their water rates.
If customers believe that they are not connected to the public sewerage systems, for either foul or surface water, then they will need to follow the procedure that is detailed on their bills to enquire about possible rebates.

Coupland Rd:
After complaints by residents, following a serious accident which occurred on this road during the very icy conditions.
Wigan council has accepted to include Coupland Rd in the regular gritting route.
Sheila Woodward, vice chairman of Hindley Green Residents Association, strongly protested and said: " People are going down the road thinking they are on a perfectly good road and then it gets icy and something like this happens".
The Council accepted that there is a problem and Metro bosses have agreed to grit the road with immediate effect.
