Cleanup of the footpath along the route of the old Hindley Green railway line. The walk way, which had been completely overgrown for quite a while has now been cut back, making it possible to stroll once again along the route of the old railway track. Hopefully we will see the footpath on other side of Leigh Rd cut back in the near future.
Speeding traffic along a stretch of Leigh Rd Hindley Green has been the cause of 39 accidents over the last 3 to 4 years. Residents have been complaining for quite a long time about this problem. There have been a number of walls demolished on occasions because of speeding traffic meeting on the very tight bend.
Finally as a result of public complaint, an automatic speed sign has been put in place to attempt to calm the speeding traffic. Hopefully this will see a significant difference to the problem. There is a continuing campaign for safety barriers to be put into place to make the residents feel safer.
