.
There was an excellent turn out on Sunday 9th November. Crowds
turned up at the Cenotaph in Hindley for the parade.
Many said that it was the biggest turn out they had seen for a long time.
Apparently it is believed that poppy sales were up dramatically this year.
Also in Hindley Green. the churches were full with services at Sacred Heart,
the Family Church at Bethel and St John's CE Church.
Wreaths being laid by the young people of The Anchor boys, Rainbows,
Brownies, Girl Guides and Boys Brigade.

Landscaping HG Railway Line

.

Further work has been done on the old Hindley Green railway line with trees and shrubs being cut back and a good walkway created.
This has made a lovely walk that winds its way through from Leigh Rd to Aylesbury Crescent where there are now steps for easy access.
A great job, well done.
Cllr Bob Brierley says that he is hopeful that we will see this good work continuing in the locality

Leigh Rd Accident Problem.
Further to the report opposite on Leigh Rd.
A letter was sent by HGRA to Wigan & Leisure Culture Trust, Wigan MBC Traffic Department, Andy Burnham MP, Wigan Metropolitan Police, Leigh Journal, Leigh Reporter and Lancashire Publications.
The letter expressed that the Residents Association is not happy to prolong this seriously dangerous situation and feel that we have no alternative but to protest and ask that this problem is addressed with the utmost priority.
A reply was received from Local Transport Plan Deliver Manager (Wigan Gov.uk), which said "I can confirm that we have undertaken some remedial work on the approach to this bend from both directions to warning drivers on the bend ahead.
High-visibility warning signs have been erected on both approaches together with the vehicle activated sign on the northbound approach. We are also currently procuring resurfacing work around the bend which will include amending the camber. High-friction surface dressing will then be applied to the bend to improve the skid resistance of the road surface.
It is envisaged that these measures will address the concerns of residents and negate the potential for further road traffic collisions".
HGRA has submitted all relevant information and pictures to Lancashire Publications. They are to publish an article in the Evening news in the near future, covering this serious situation.

Leigh Rd Traffic signs
The sign that advises traffic to reduce speed on the approach to the bad bend in Leigh Rd has now been moved away from its original position where it obstructed the electronic speed sign. Although the new position of this could still pose a problem.
If a bus is stopped at the bus stop then the sign is clearly invisible to overtaking vehicles.
Another sign has also been positioned on the approach to the bend heading towards Leigh.
