Charity Night
A charity night is being held at Hindley's Monaco Ballroom on Friday, November 20 November (8pm - 1am).
Fans get free entry by donation of old and new toys in support of families across the borough who can't afford gifts for their children this Christmas due to the economic climate.
Organiser Bob Brierley will also collect toy donations (call him on Wigan 522992 or 07792 559191).
He said: "Everyone is welcome to come with music from the 60s 70s and 80s along with 50 years of Tamla Motown
"We are looking to support children of all ages up to 16, so we are looking for a wide range of gifts.

Do you want to be part of a new and exciting project supporting carers across the borough?
A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage to stay at home without their help due to age, sickness, addiction or disability.
It is estimated that there are in excess of 46,000 carers across Wigan borough providing vital support and care.
Wigan Council is working in partnership with other organisations to develop a new carer centre to enhance, improve and develop services to support carers.
The centre will be funded initially by Wigan Council, but will eventually register as an independent charity.
We are looking to recruit volunteers to form a board of trustees to develop the centre and support the centre manager in taking this new and exciting project forward.
Successful applicants will come from different backgrounds and have a range of skills, which should include experience in one or more of the following areas.
Issues affecting carers
Human Resources
Information Technology
Fundraising
Work within volunteer sector
Finance
Quality assurance
Charity management
Full support and appropriate training will be given to the successful applicants.
These roles are voluntary and unpaid, all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Trustees will be expected to attend approximately six meetings per year.
If you feel that you would like to be part of this project, or would like an informal chat
about the responsibilities of a trustee, please phone: Pauline Gregson on

Police Surgeries
PC Wendy Rowson (pictured) of the Hindley Green Neighbourhood Policing Team is running surgeries throughout 2009 at Bethel Community Centre, Atherton Road, Hindley Green.
The surgeries take place on the last Wednesday of each month and run from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.
They are an opportunity for members of the community to meet their local officers and raise any concerns they may have about crime and anti-social behaviour in their area.
People can also express their views on how the community is policed and receive crime prevention advice on a range of issues.
If you are unable to attend any of these surgeries and wish to speak to a police officer, please contact the Hindley Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 7436
